May is gone but the summer heat is making its way through. With longer days and stuck inside the house thanks to dear Covid -19 who has yet to leave, I have more than enough time to read, read and read as if I haven’t been doing this since last year…
So instead of my usual monthly review or recommendation, I thought it will be fun to talk about the webtoons that I had enjoyed this May instead. Instead of one big review, you guys get 4 mid-size ones.
This little wrap-up includes :
- The Kiss Bet – Webtoon
- Cape Of Spirits –Webtoon
- Delusion –Webtoon
- Epilogue –Webtoon
Let’s start!
The Kiss Bet

- Title: The Kiss Bet
- Author & Artist: Ingrid Ochoa
- Story: 9 out of 10
- Art: 8.9 out of 10
- Genre: Romance & Drama
- Status: Ongoing
- Overall rating: 9 out of 10
*Overall rating might change in the future depending on the future chapters. Since this webtoon is currently on-going.
The Kiss Bet season 2 came to an end in May. The season finally was both a relief and an illegal cliffhanger!
The Kiss Bet is a romance webtoon. Sara Lin is a senior who wants her first kiss. But her best friend Patrick challenges her to kiss a random stranger for a bet. And things happen after that……
This is a really cute story. The art and the colors are pretty. And honestly, I am heavily invested. Can’t wait for season 3 to start. Highly recommend this if you love fluff.
Cape Of Spirits

- Title: Cape Of Spirits
- Author & Artist: Kris Nguyen
- Story: 9 out of 10
- Art: 8 out of 10
- Genre: Action & Sci-Fi
- Status: Completed
- Overall rating: 8.7 out of 10

Cape of Spirits is a short action & sci-fi webtoon that follows Jinsei an ex-prince who is on the run. To clear his name & to save the world he teams up with a group of mischief. Friends became foes & foes became friends as he tries to save his only family and the world.
Together can they save the world from being destroyed?

The story starts in the middle of the climax and that was such a genius move from the author’s side as from the very first chapter you are hooked. It does explain what happens before the climax with flashbacks. And those flashbacks are short and in between the part of the chapters as it was entwined in the story. It had such smooth transitions. So satisfying to read.
Once you get past the first few chapters – which does feel a little confusing cause the story starts from the middle. But if you just go through the first 10 chapters, you can’t stop.
Another thing about the writing that I have to mention is how the author didn’t coined the characters of their sexuality. There are LGBT characters but it isn’t used as an excuse to turn the story into something else. At its core, Cape Of Spirits is an action, sci-fi, and fantasy story. Characters weren’t part of the LGBT umbrella for the plot. It was who they were. Them being in love with each other was just them being them. Loved that!
The art is gorgeous. The colors are bright and the action scenes have a good flow.
The last chapter made all the readers teared up…
Cape Of Spirit just ended this May with 88 chapters. It hasn’t gotten Daily Pass- yet. So perfect to binge-read. Click to read.
Delusion

- Title: Delusion
- Author & Artist: Hongjacga
- Story: 9 out of 10
- Art: 10 out of 10
- Genre: Horror, Thriller & Supernatural
- Status: Completed
- Overall rating: 9.5 out of 10
First of all, the art is absolutely beautiful! Entirely gorgeous. The dark monochrome colors in contrast with bright red in the palette are exquisite. It is one of my favorites!
Has great characters and a plot. The story doesn’t drag and the flow is just perfect.

It is a vampire story without the usual cliches. It has romance which doesn’t take away the overall dark atmosphere of the webtoon. The romance instead is used to show the characters’ turmoil.
It’s set in 1935, Gyeongseong. A struggling dauber is commissioned to paint a portrait of Madam Song who is in her 80s. But instead of an elderly lady, he finds a young woman in front of him. With no other painter able to finish her portraits will he be the first to finish it?
It has horror elements in the art that really kept me up in the night when I first read it.
This is a story that I will go back and read once again to appreciate the details and depth of it.
Will recommend it to all if you like a good story with beautiful art no matter the genre.
Epilogue

- Title: Epilogue
- Author & Artist: Cho Seok
- Story: 8 out of 10
- Art: 7.5 out of 10
- Genre: Thriller & Mystery
- Status: Completed
- Overall rating: 8.9 out of 10
This was a good one. One of the most twistful stories I have read. I love thrillers and this fits my taste. The art and the color palette added to the eerieness of the story, which really set the mood.
Haesu Choi gets wrapped up when he finds his name as a victim in a third-rate crime story that he found in his free daily newspaper. And what if it was actually an account of someone’s murder?
It is somewhat well written though it leaves us with a little cliffhanger at the end. Maybe the author will do a part 2 – though it seems most likely not.
The ending twist was ….wow, did not saw that coming at all.
Would definitely recommend if you love thriller and murder/murders.
I will continue to do more wrap-ups like this in the future. Though it won’t be as monthly as I would like it.
